USER CHOICE PROGRAM

USER CHOICE FUNDING

The User Choice 2021-2022 program provides a public funding contribution towards the cost of training and assessment for eligible Queensland apprentices and trainees.

The program is designed to provide employers and their apprentices and trainees with the ability to select their preferred training organisation (RTO) from a list of Queensland Government pre-qualified suppliers for the delivery of a nationally recognised qualification to meet their specific needs.

Queenslanders can only access one government contribution of the User Choice Funded qualification at any single point in time. It is important that apprentices and trainees ensure that the decision they make will lead them to their future chosen career pathway.

TRAINEESHIPS & APPRENTICESHIPS

Apprentices and trainees can only receive a maximum of two government-funded contributions under the current User Choice program. However, the subsidy is determined by how critical the occupation is to the Queensland economy.

To undertake an apprenticeship and traineeship with IPS Institute you must be employed full time or part-time and have access to a workplace relevant to the qualifications you wish to study.

Students are required to pay a co-contribution fee (which may be paid on your behalf by the employer), which is currently set at $1.60 per nominal hour for each Unit of Competency, as of 1 July 2014.

EMPLOYERS

Employers can subsidise the cost of offering apprenticeships in Queensland by taking part in the state funding schemes and incentives. These incentives enable businesses to invest in apprenticeships and traineeships and provide the business substantial profitable benefits.
